Justincase was created to help struggling students and their families in the community. The purpose is to provide necessary food and clothing, as well as hygiene products, school supplies, and so much more to ensure that these families can survive the long breaks before, during, and after the school year.
Katelynn is a co-founder of Justincase and created this as a junior in highschool. After highschool, Katelynn plans to attend college where she plans to major in either music education, or nursing. Katelynn is a member of the golf team and the band. In band Katelynn plays the French horn; she is also the Drum Major.
Riley is a co-founder of Justincase with one of her best friends - Katelynn Lewis. She created this as a junior in high school. She is a member of the softball team, baseball team, and band. In band, Riley is a member of the leadership team, where her role is the resource officer, but more realistically she is called the band mom. After highschool Riley plans to go into the education field.
How we came up with Justincase
We came up with the idea for these care closets while trying to think of a fantasy community service project for a different project, but then we quickly decided that we would rather make this project come to life instead of keeping it a dream. We wanted to create Justincase because we both adore working with kids and love to help anywhere we can. We had heard and seen on social media what teachers were doing for kids out of the kindness of their hearts and wanted to help as well because we can't imagine how hard it can be for the teachers as well.
Our Name
The meaning behind our name comes from when we were in the very first stages. We knew we wanted the project to come to life, we were just waiting on approval. In the meantime, Katelynn talked to her mom and told her how she even came up with the idea for this project. She had thought about how the adults in her family celebrate Christmas every year.
Katelynn's dad passed away from cancer when she was eight years old. Because her dad had such a positive impact on the people he was around, her family wanted to start a tradition that reflected his impact. Instead of the adults getting gifts for each other on Christmas, they would gather the money that they would have spent on each other and give it to a family in need or going through a tough diagnosis.
While talking with her mom about the project idea, her mom suggested that the name should reflect her dad - Justin - in some way because the idea came from something based around him. When we had seen the idea for Justincase as a name, we immediately knew that it was perfect because, not only is it discrete for the people that need it, but is also has a meaning far deeper than what meets the eye. JUSTINcase.
